Style Safari

Hey everyone! Stefanie from theStyleSafari here to talk to you about one of my favorite trends that I am seeing on and off the runways for spring. While I'm sure you know by now that neon and pastels are already huge for spring, I wanted to highlight another trend that's all about the details.

That's right- the way I see it, mixing fabrics, finishes and materials is the unsung design hero of spring trends. Whether it be textures such as soft leather and felt a la Reed Krakoff or simpler combinations of  hard wood and metal at Forever21, mixing media adds depth and detail, making each piece you choose a stunner on their own. Let's get a look at some of my new favorites, shall we?

1. Proenza Schouler Leather and Woven Tweed Wrap Skirt
2. Sachin & Babi Woven and Twill Trench
3. Forever21 Rhinestone, Bead and Metal Medallion Necklace
4. Forever21 Faceted Wood and Metal Bangle
5. Schutz Devon Leather and Gold Sandal
6. Markus Lupfer Tweed and Chiffon Dress
7. Sass & Bide Silk and Cotton Denim Shirt
8. Sass & Bide Silk, Feather and Lace Dress
9. Alexander Wang Chloe Textured High Heel Sandals

Bree Madden

I've always believed that talent for being artistic is really god sent. A lot of people have the desire to become a painter or musician but its not something everyone can pursue. But the ones that do, find tremendous success and passion which makes them head for greater things. These are the words I use to describe 'Bree Madden's photography. The images captivated me and being a huge nature lover myself, I felt myself being transformed to a peaceful place sitting by the lake somewhere listening to the waves, surrounded by bright colorful flowers.  Can you hear the waves? I had the pleasure to interview Bree and try and discover her amazing talent for photography..Read on :)

F.E - Welcome Bree! We would love to know more about you, what do you do, besides photography?
Bree - I am a full time mother and wife. I run after my 2 year old all day lol that in it self is a full time job!

F.E - What does handmade mean to you?
Bree - Handmade is so special as each person puts so much time, love and effort into what they are doing. It is so wonderful to support handmade!

F.E - Who has been most influential regarding photography?
My husband for sure! He is always helping me, giving me feedback, looking for my next picture with me!

F.E - When did you know you were an photographer?
I have always loved to take photos. After I had my daughter I planned on staying at home with her. That is when I truly turned this my passion and hobby into a business.

F.E - How would you describe your creative process?
I just have to be in the moment when I am taking photos. It is hard to go out and take pictures. I have to be in this "mood" to feel the creativeness.

F.E - If you could peek inside the studio of any photographer (dead or alive), who would it be?

Bree - Oh this is a hard one. I think I would love to look into anyone's studio! I bet everyone person is so different in their creative process that everyone's is so interesting.

F.E -  What handmade possession do you most cherish?
The handmade ones from my daughter. She is already an artist in the making :)

F.E - How do you get out of your creative ruts?
I have a playlist that really helps. It really gets my creative juices flowing when I listen to music!

F.E - Where would you like to be in ten years?
I would love to be right here in Southern California doing what I love Photography but on a bigger scale! More craft fairs, art shows.
